He has been filling these scrapbooks since he was in high school, and they now run to nearly 2,500 volumes, or roughly 2,489 more volumes than Will and Ariel Durant’s The Story of Civilization. ![]() On the topmost floor of the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, Hugh Hefner keeps leather-bound scrapbooks on rows of glassed-in bookshelves that not only fill his attic-like archive room but also run up and down the narrow surrounding hallways.
